Welcome to My World!

I decided my first blog post should be a small introduction about myself and why I decided to create my own blog in the first place. Ever since I was small, I loved to read and write. Whether it was reading the Disney classics or reading Greek mythology, I loved to take in the words on the page and envelop the stories in my mind. In turn, I began to love to write and take my own imagination to paper. I got countless awards in elementary school and beyond for my writing and my teachers told my parents in back-to-school night meetings that I had a real talent on my hands. I always took this compliment with a grain of salt to be honest, because I didn’t think reading and writing was “cool” as I grew in to my pre-teens. For a while I lost touch with my writing and reading to be completely honest, but now I’m back and I’m better than ever as they say. After completing my first semester at college and being forced to decide what my actual skills and talents were, I realized that staying up late nights and writing papers an hour before they were due was not my style. I genuinely loved writing papers, whether they were about Veronese’s Mars and Venus in Love for my Art History course or about my own business advice for Microeconomics, I just loved to write and I never procrastinated from that. I now know my strengths, being that I suck at math and science but I’m not too shabby at history and writing, why not play up what I do best. Deciding to minor in journalism became an amazing realization because it showed me that who gives a shit if other people around me find writing “cool” or enjoyable, I have found a niche of people who do and I love writing so why the hell not. Of course since I said I’m minoring in journalism, that means I need a major of course. I’m majoring in fashion, my one true love that I have never taken a break from. I know most fashion enthusiasts will tell people that they just love to shop and they love style and trends, but for me it’s something much more. Ever since I could walk on my own, I had to dress and style myself. Since that moment, my love for fashion has just manifested in different ways. It’s a passion and I feel passionate about following your passions. Now that I have an outlet to write about fashion, along with some beauty and lifestyle, I’m ready to share my life with anyone who is willing to read. Welcome to my world.

Holiday Gift Guide 2017

Hi my loves! It’s been a while since I’ve written on here, and I’m very sorry for my inactivity. I have been extremely busy this semester but I have been very happy and driven as well. I was able to intern for NYFW and I was able to attend a conference for Vogue Magazine in mid-October. Now that the semester is drawing to a close, I’d love to post more on my blog and get back to being an avid writer again. To kick off my blog re-launch, I wanted to share with you a quick gift guide if you’re still looking for some last minute gifts for your loved ones (don’t worry I’m behind on gift shopping too)!

Instant Camera

Shop

I got this exact camera last Christmas, and I couldn’t have been happier with this gift. I actually had this camera about 2 or 3 years ago, but I accidentally broke the shutter button and was not able to get it fixed. That being said, this is an amazing gift for the photographer or social media junkie in your life. I love having tangible photos of memories that I make with friends and family (and the film makes for a great stocking stuffer!)

Makeup Set

Shop

For the beauty lover in your life, a makeup holiday set is a no-brainer. Brands like Sephora sell curated sets that have a mixture of their best selling products from different brands and categories. This glow set that features different ranges of highlighters is just an example of the many holiday gifts that Sephora has to offer. Whether they are a make-up artist or a beginner, everyone will appreciate trying new mini products for half the price.

Phone Case

Shop

Main Image - Recover Gemstone iPhone 6/7/8 & 6/7/8 Plus Case

We’re all a little bit tech obsessed, so a fun phone case is a great present to ask for or to gift someone else. I love this marble case by the brand Recover because it’s slim but durable. In my eyes, you can never have too many phone cases.

Jewelry

Shop

Rings

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend right? This is more of an investment piece for yourself or someone special in your life, but Pandora sells some of the finest jewelry that won’t completely break your bank. Their holiday gift sets include a variety of pieces and are almost half the price of the initial retail value.

Headphones

Shop

Finally for the music lover, a pair of staple headphones would make anyone’s Christmas. Whether you’re using them for video editing, for making music, or simply just listening to your favorite tunes, Beats headphones are always a necessity. Toss your earbuds and get a high quality sounding pair of headphones, you won’t regret it!

Thank you all for reading tonight’s blog post! Sorry it was so short, but I’m in the middle of cramming for finals, but I wanted to take a break and write something for you all because I missed blogging so much. If you want me to do a gift guide for him before the holidays are over, let me know in the comments 🙂 Enjoy your Saturday evening and weekend, and I will see you all soon when classes are over!

Where Have I Been?

Hi my loves! It’s been a while since I posted on my blog, and I have several reasons for that. One, I just started college about 2 weeks ago at LIM in NYC. This is a huge step for me because I used to go to college at Montclair State University in my home state (sorta) in New Jersey. Now I’m living in New York City and I’m getting to pursue my true goal of becoming a Fashion Journalist. I want to thank everyone who has read my blog thus far, but this is only the beginning. As I try to find myself as a writer I’ll be experimenting here on my blog on WordPress until I reach my ultimate goal of starting my own stand-alone blog. That brings me to my second reason for not posting, and that’s because I just have felt uninspired. On top of being very busy, I found myself slacking off in my writing because I was in a true rut. I enjoyed the content that I was making, but I felt that literary wise, it wasn’t really helping me expand as much as I wanted it to. Until I find a way to merge fashion and beauty while still being able to write great content that actually helps me as a writer, instead of just reviewing products and doing outfit of the days, posting on this site might be a little slow. However, I want to say bear with me because as I discover myself here in New York City, I feel more inspired each and everyday. I have opened myself up to a whole new world of people, opportunities, food, and so much more.

Anyway, I wanted to just hop on here to notify you all that I’m still here, I still see your comments and your love on all of my posts and I wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. My blog will be under construction for a little while I try to find my aesthetic, so don’t be surprised if it looks different every time you check it. Thank you so much for reading and for supporting me as I express myself through this outlet. More content will be coming soon.

Brand Focus: Sephora Collection

Hi my loves! Often when we walk into a Sephora, the last area we check is the Sephora Collection because we’re usually looking for other brands to shop for. However, the Sephora Collection is actually extremely underrated, which is why I wanted to do this post and share with you all some of my favorite products from this brand.

Make No Mistake Foundation/Concealer Stick

This foundation/concealer stick is amazing for travel because it doubles up as two products! It has medium coverage and can be used all over the face or to just correct certain areas. The shade range is really great for this product as well, with both warm and cool undertone options.

Golden Hour Highlighter

This is probably one of the most underrated highlighters in the make-up world right now and it’s only $16! I absolutely love the rosegold tones in this particular shade, named “High Noon”, but there are 4 other shades to match with any complexion. These highlighters have a suede, plush, feel to them which is great because they are so blend-able and easy to work with.

8 HR Mattifying Compact Powder

I have been using the powder for probably a year or two, and I really haven’t branched out much since then. I have a relatively normal skin type but it leans more towards dry usually, so I thought a mattifying powder would be too drying but it’s the perfect level of matte without making my skin look dry. It covers up oil but it leaves the face still looking fresh.

Ultra Shine Lipgel

Usually, I prefer a matte lip, but I also do love to go for a glossy lip for the summertime. These lip gels from Sephora are great because they leave your lips look luscious but without being overly sticky. This is also a very comfortable and long lasting lip gloss for $12, so you can’t go wrong!

Daily Brush Cleanser

I had to throw this product in there because cleaning your brushes is so important, and it shouldn’t have to be expensive either. I’ve been using this brush cleanser for years and it’s so gentle on my brushes yet it really removes even the most stubborn makeup stains.

Thank you all for reading today’s Brand Focus, enjoy your Tuesday!

Step by Step Makeup Tutorial: Summer Bronze

Hi my loves! Today I wanted to do a step by step tutorial, showing you all how I do this gorgeous summer inspired bronze eye look. I love wearing bronze-y colors in the summer and this look is so easy to achieve! Keep reading if you want to learn all the steps 🙂

The Look:

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

Eyes:

To start off, I applied the Urban Decay Primer Potion as a base for my shadow. For the shadows, I used the Lorac Pro Stylist Palette and applied the golden bronze shade all over my lid with a flat shader brush. Pro Tip: Apply Fix Plus, Primer Water, or Setting Spray to your brush before applying the shade to really enhance the pigment. For the crease, I used my Too Faced Chocolate Bronzer to help shape my crease. For the brow highlight, I used the highlight shade in the Lorac Palette. For this look I skipped liner and only applied my Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara.

Face:

Since this is a summer look, I wanted to keep the face looking natural, so I started with the Maybeline BB Cream to give my skin some coverage. For concealer, I used the Nars Creamy Concealer in Custard and I blended both out with my Beauty Blender. For powder, I set my makeup with the Clinique Stay Matte Pressed Powder. For bronzer, I applied the Too Faced Chocolate Bronzer to me cheeks, and I highlighted with the Anastasia Glow Kit.

Eyebrows:

For brows, I used the Anastasia Brow Powder in Ebony after brushing them out with a spooly brush. To keep the brows in place, I added some ABH Brow Gel afterward.

Lips:

To match this bronze looked, I wore the Kate Moss by Rimmel Lipstick in Color #47. I love the pigmentation and finish of this lipstick because it’s not highly matte or glossy. I think a nice natural finish looks great for the summertime!

Thank you all for tuning into today’s blog post, I hope you’re all having a great week! ❤
